Over recent years there has been much confusion about certainly one of Belle Isle's many institutions: the Casino. this is not a gambling casino, but uses the previous sense of the saying, an area "public entertainments." This Casino has been used for this specific purpose since the original structure was internal the 1880s, in the role of a gathering location for Detroiters for generations.
The first building to become called the Casino was built in 1887, as Belle Isle was being become a municipal park. It was constructed to support events, bazaars, and things of that nature, which its successor was made to do as well. The original building burnt down in early 1900s.
The original building was replaced in 1907 with a building developed by the firm of Van Leyen and Schilling. This building has continued for everyone its function successfully for well over 10 years now, as well as future seems to become secure well into the read more future, inspite of the problems that Belle Isle has already established in recent years.
